Revenge or Friends

I am currently reading a book called, Eleventh Grade Burns, which is a series in Heather Brewer's Chronicles of Vlad Tod, and this book is very similar to real life except without the vampires. In the beginning of the series a mixture of stuff goes on. the reader fonds out that Vlad is a vampire, he dates Meredith, his teacher is his uncle, Vlad finds out about his parents death, basically a mixture of misfortunes. In the beginning of this book, an old friend of Vlad's comes back into the story because he is a vampire slayer and he decides to attempt to kill Vlad again. Joss, the friend, holds back on completing this job because he still considers Vlad his friend but at the same time he wants revenge on the Vampires who killed his sister.

The author wants us, the readers, the feel undecided just like Joss does in this situation. The vampire killed Joss's little sister right in front of his eyes and he has so much hatred for them and determination to kill them all. Killing them all would mean killing Vlad and at first, Joss absolutely didn't have a problem with that because he was blinded by hatred for vampires and passion for his job but now he doesn't feel comfortable killing someone who just months ago, he was playing video games, going to parties, and eating cookies with. Therefore, these too conflicts leave Joss undecided on what to do, stalling with his job and slowly going back to his old best friend Vlad.

The author wants us, the readers, to think that Joss's situation can be the same for people in real life. Having to choose between one important thing and another is difficult. I think that Joss should do what ever his heart tells him to do because this is no easy decision. Obviously, the human in me is giving him the advice to stop killing people and go be a kid. Quit the stupid vampire slayer act and actually live his life because you only have one childhood to live so you should enjoy it. The person of justice in me is saying that yes all vampires should be punished and killed for committing such an awful crime to innocent people.
